How Do I Become An Acupuncturist?
If you are planning to become an acupuncturist, it is important that you choose a good school. This is particularly true if you want to become registered with our Association because our membership requirements include specific training criteria.
In Canadian Provinces and American States where Acupuncture is regulated, any school will provide you with the required standard of training. But in unregulated jurisdictions (like Ontario and the Maritimes), there are many schools with training standards that fall far short of our requirements. They may offer shorter and cheaper programs with ‘conveniences’ like distance learning and ‘weekend workshops’ and you may find this tempting. But these ‘shortcuts’ do not serve your long-term interests. You would not expect to train as a lawyer, doctor, veterinarian, nurse or any other professional in this manner.
An Acupuncture education is a big investment of time and money. Make sure you choose a good school. Shop wisely. Our links page will connect you to some of the finer Canadian schools and programs. If you want any further advice from us on training, we are more than happy to help out. Just contact us.
